Different ends of castellated beams

Four common cases

The relationship of the dimensions U (distance between the end opening and the beam end) and T (distance between successive openings) is decisive. All other dimensions for a given beam follow from this.

Beam ends left ragged, U=T

Simple and cheap, but not convenient to use.

  TOP

Beam ends left ragged, U>T

Longer ends, but not very effective.

  TOP

Beam ends finished, U=T

Nice finish, dearer due to extra cutting operation and material waste.

  TOP

Beam ends finished with infill plates, U>T

Strong and rigid ends, but expensive.
